From the Farm to the Table
The garden and dining room staff take pride in preparing meals with ingredients grown in the vegetable garden just outside the Trustees' Office and from nearby farmers - bringing food from the farm directly to the table.
As a Kentucky Proud member, the Trustees’ Office Dining Room serves traditional favorites and seasonal Kentucky dishes inspired by locally available ingredients.
The Gardens
As the days get longer and warmer our heirloom garden begins to overflow with fresh vegetables, herbs and fruits. Throughout the growing seasons the garden staff delivers baskets of produce to the Trustees’ Office kitchen, just steps from the garden gate.
Our vegetable garden is unable to supply all of the ingredients needed to serve our dining room guests. We also source nearby farms for only the freshest ingredients.
The Atmosphere
Guests to the Trustees’ Office Dining Room are welcomed in the center hallway by Brethren Micajah Burnett’s graceful twin spiral staircases, the perfect symbol of Shaker simplicity, ingenuity and craftsmanship.
Service is warm, friendly and unpretentious in this simple, yet refined atmosphere. Meals are served on handmade wooden tables surrounded by Shaker-style high back chairs and hand-blown glass hurricane shades encircle lit candles.
The Menus
The menus celebrate our roots while featuring new dishes made from seasonal ingredients found in the garden and from local farmers. Guests can count on traditional favorites on the menu, such as tomato celery soup, cole slaw, corn sticks, relish bowls, fried chicken and corn pudding. The menus will also offer dishes inspired by the seasons, changing depending on locally available ingredients.
