Investigate the Centre Family Dwelling and Meeting House to learn Shaker lessons in community, sustainability and ingenuity. Then stretch your legs along the tree-lined turnpike to discover Shaker architecture, natural playscapes and even a Shaker cemetery.
Located within an hour’s drive of 11 distilleries, Shaker Village is set in the heart of Kentucky’s bourbon tradition. Partnering with Central Kentucky Tours, Shaker Village offers guests guided tasting tours to legendary distilleries and popular craft distilleries.
Shaker Village partners with Road Scholar, the not-for-profit leader in educational travel since 1975, to provide educational adventures for all ages. These week-long overnight programs explore the spring wildflowers and birds of Central Kentucky and Shaker history. All participants must register in advance through Road Scholar.
Dixie Belle Riverboat
Enjoy a relaxing ride aboard Shaker Village’s 115-passenger riverboat, through high limestone cliffs and untouched natural beauty. One-hour narrated cruises describe the historical importance of the river to the Shakers and pass under High Bridge, an engineering marvel built in 1877.
Dine on traditional favorites and seasonal Kentucky dishes prepared with straight-from-the-garden ingredients. Steeped in tradition, The Trustees’ Table’s menus celebrate Shaker Village’s roots by featuring dishes made of seasonal ingredients from our garden and local farmers.
