Behind the Scenes: Shaker Village’s Collection

Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill preserves more than 5000 artifacts associated with the Pleasant Hill Shakers. Go behind the scenes with Shaker Village’s curator to explore highlights from the collection.
Shaker Village has the largest collection of Kentucky Shaker rugs and carpeting. Learn about the Shaker sisters’ robust textile industry in the 19th century and the beautiful rugs they created using recycled and reused materials. Discover the some of the challenges in caring for historic textiles and gain practical tips about textile preservation that can be applied to your own family heirlooms.
Pricing:
Annual Passholder: $20
Non-Annual Passholder: $25
This workshop is for ages 16 and up. If under age 18 you must be accompanied by a paying adult. Guests will not be allowed to bring food, drink, pens or any bags/purses into the program (cameras/phones and pencils/paper are okay).
Program fee includes one complimentary admission to Shaker Village and one voucher for 20% off dining at the Trustees’ Table (excluding alcoholic beverages). Dining reservation recommended: call 859.734.5411.
