Behind the Scenes: Shaker Village’s Collection
Saturday, July 23, 2022 | 2- 3:30 p.m.
Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill preserves more than 5000 artifacts associated with the Pleasant Hill Shakers. Go behind the scenes with Shaker Village’s curator to explore highlights from the collection.
The Pleasant Hill Shakers created “heaven on earth” out of the Kentucky wilderness, spending long hours of labor – and equipped with only hand tools – to construct their buildings and craft their furniture. Explore the woodworking tools commonly found in a Shaker brother’s tool chest and learn about some of the brethren who were skilled carpenters and joiners.
