A fun and educational dinner prepared by Chef Amber demonstrating the different techniques of food preservation.

During this four-course dinner you will experience food prepared using nine different methods of preservation including pickling, salt preservation, sugaring, fermentation, canning, smoking, curing, dehydrating and fat preservation.

Chef Amber has been preparing for this meal since February of last year, preserving items in their peak season to be enjoyed during this unique dinning experience.

Relax and enjoy this casual evening in the West Family Dwelling's cozy Winter Kitchen making new friends and enjoying great food and beverages. It's sure to be enlightening and delicious too!

Each Fresh Food Adventure has an all-inclusive fixed dinner and spirits menu. Special dietary accommodations must be communicated in advance. Availability is limited, advanced registration and non-refundable pre-payment is required.

Fresh Food Adventures are communal dining experiences, and guests should expect to share their table with other dining enthusiasts.

Parties wishing to sit together and guests with special dietary considerations should email [email protected] at least one week in advance to ensure accommodations.

The Shakers grew, prepared and sold herbs across the country for many purposes. Learn about varieties of herbs and how they can be used to make all natural products for your home and body.

This workshop includes discussion and demonstration of the basic steps for making carpet cleaners, hand sanitizers, green cleaners, teas, sugar scrubs, and more. Make several of your own products to take home or give as gifts. Find out just how easy it is to make big batches all at once!

Join Canoe Kentucky guides for an adventure along picturesque stretches of the Kentucky and Dix Rivers. Paddle beneath the imposing Palisades as the leaves begin their autumn change.

This 3-4-hour paddle includes a sack lunch along the banks of the river. This program is for guests ages 12 and up. Ages 12-17 must be accompanied by a paying adult.

Canoe Rental: $60 per person
Kayak Rental: $70 per person
Bring Own Canoe: $55 per person

What is the significance of the fall equinox?

During the equinox, both halves of the Earth are receiving the sun’s rays equally. In the Northern Hemisphere, the fall equinox officially brings summer to an end and kicks off fall.

The night sky and the cosmos have been a source of inspiration and amazement throughout human history. Join us for an evening at Pleasant Hill and explore the starry sky! On this gentle hike through the Preserve, take in the wonders of the prairie and forest at night while discovering some of the mysteries and curiosities of the universe. Along the way, we will observe constellations while exploring the cultural and scientific importance of the fall equinox.

Each fall, hundreds of millions of monarch butterflies migrate from the United States to warmer regions in Mexico and California. The monarch migration is one of the world's greatest natural wonders, yet it is threatened by habitat loss. Take an easy hike through The Preserve and learn how its wildflowers serve as an important habitat for butterflies and other essential pollinators, then help tag monarchs to track and monitor their annual migration. Along the way, discuss plants you can grow in your own yard to help save the monarchs.
