Take on the challenging project of making a market basket in a day! Learn the art of weaving using natural reed to make a basket that is perfect for shopping trips into town or to the local farmer’s market.
All necessary materials are provided. No experience necessary and all levels encouraged.

Roll up your sleeves and lend a hand to help maintain the beauty of Shaker Village! Shaker Village staff will lead small teams of volunteers on a variety of outdoor beautification projects, including painting, staining and cleaning.
To keep our volunteers and staff safe we will be working in small groups, following all COVID-19 safety standards, and providing tools for individual use only where needed.
Work projects will total approximately 4 hours of the day, for guests ages 18 and up, and space is limited.

Why is it called a Beaver Moon?
Normally, this is the time of year when beavers were most active and fur traders would know to set their traps!
The night sky and the cosmos have been a source of inspiration and amazement throughout human history. Join us for an evening at Pleasant Hill and explore the starry sky! On this gentle hike through the Preserve, take in the wonders of the prairie and forest at night while discovering some of the mysteries and curiosities of the universe. Along the way, we will observe constellations and learn fun facts about the moon and its importance in our lives!

All minors must be accompanied by an adult. Participants should be at the Welcome Center by 5:00 pm. All guests should bring flashlights that they can use to assist them return to their vehicles or rooms at the conclusion of the evening.
