Ticket Sales have closed for 2019!

Shaker Village manages over 1,000 acres of restored, native prairie. By establishing and caring for this important habitat native wildlife, like Bobwhite Quail, have flourished.

Once per year, Shaker Village offers the public the opportunity to hunt wild quail in this native habitat through a hunt lottery.

Habitat management requires significant funding to conduct regular controlled burns, herbicide treatments, plantings and monitoring. Proceeds from The Heritage Hunt for Bobwhite Quail help Shaker Village provide this maintenance, and create a sustainable system so future generations may enjoy Kentucky's native flora and fauna. In addition, wildlife management through controlled hunts helps to sustain a healthier quail population.

The Preserve at Shaker Village conserves and shares native prairies, woodlands, watersheds, fields, canebrakes and diverse wildlife—all perfectly framed by miles of hand-laid rock walls.

Each year, thousands of visitors hike, run and ride on nearly 40 miles of recreational trails that weave through The Preserve. Maintaining this trail system is not only important for ensuring a quality visitor experience, but also for protecting a diverse, and sometimes delicate, ecosystem.

We need your help to care for our trails!

If you are not adverse to a little hard work in the outdoors, join us as we battle erosion, clear invasive species and protect one of Central Kentucky's most popular outdoor spaces!

From July through October, for three hours in the afternoon on the third Sunday of each month, the Shaker Village Preserve Team will lead volunteer trail crews to help maintain the Village's trails.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. Volunteers will use hand tools including shovels and loppers, and should wear leather work gloves and sturdy, closed-toe shoes or work boots.

Call 1-800-734-5611 or email [email protected] for more information.
