Christmas ornaments at Shaker Village

Holiday decorations can be expensive, messy, and harmful to the environment. In this workshop guests will learn to make beautiful, simple, even scented decorations using non-harmful materials you can find around your house, and in your neighborhood.

Have fun learning about Shaker holiday traditions, and making your own decorations to take home!

Program fee includes one complimentary admission to Shaker Village and one voucher redeemable for 20% off dining at the Trustees’ Table (excluding alcoholic beverages). Dining reservation recommended to assure availability - 800.734.5611 x 360.

Every Saturday in December until Christmas! 

During the holiday season, Shaker Village will bustle with light-hearted moments that remind us of long-ago winter days filled with wonder and laughter. Make time to delight in life’s simple gifts with family and friends, as lively music, merriment and candlelight illuminate the Village.

In addition to our regular Holiday festivities, Illuminated Evenings will feature holiday music, roaring fires, twinkling lights and special visits with Mrs. Claus! December 7, 14, and 21 will feature different performers, programs and tours.

Donations – Donations of new gloves, hats, scarves and non-perishable food for the Shaker Village Giving Tree are encouraged in place of regular $5 admission, and will be given to local families in need.

The Shops Extended Hours – The shops have been filled to the brim with new merchandise brought in to celebrate the holiday season.

The Elf Shop – Create a unique holiday craft or write your own letter to Santa.

Jingle Bell Shuttle Rides ($5 per person) – Catch a ride on a festive wagon as it travels down the Village road lined with classic holiday greenery.

Bonfires & Hot Chocolate Stations – Warm up around our fire pits and enjoy delicious complimentary hot chocolate and spiced cider.

Special Holiday Music – Enjoy special performances of holiday favorites by a variety of regional musicians in the 1820 Shaker Meeting House.

Make your own holiday star this year!  Try your hand at weaving an intricate star pattern using reed, which can be replicated at home in a variety of sizes and materials. Each participant will take home two reed stars.

All necessary materials are provided.

No experience necessary and all levels encouraged.

Price: $45 per person 

This program is for guests ages 16 and up. All 16 and 17 year old guests must be accompanied by a paying adult.

Join us to learn a heritage craft that links us to a 200 year tradition of broom making at Pleasant Hill.  In this workshop you will begin by making smaller brushes and progress to creating a Turkey Wing (a hand-tied variation of a traditional flat broom). Learn to wrap, tie and finish hand-made brooms just like the Shakers.

All necessary materials are provided.

Join Shaker Village and the Long Run Woodford Hounds fox chasers for this grand, traditional event featuring a blessing of the hounds, riders and the fox, followed by an exhibition of riding and hunting techniques.

Warm up with savory à la carte food options paired with favorite drinks from the Shaker Village bar.

This event is included with your general admission to Shaker Village, granting you access to historic tours, exhibits and other experiences across the property.
