The Sara Holroyd Singers In The Meeting House

Join us for an ode to Shaker worship as The Sara Holroyd Singers perform Shaker Music in a choral style. Their performance will run for about 40 minutes in the 1820 Meeting House.

The Sara Holroyd Singers were formed in 2015 and are directed by Richard Burns.  This dynamic and entertaining group primarily performs Music of Kentucky with arrangements of Early American Shaker Music.  They have been featured on stages of The Singletary Center for The Arts, Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill, Red Barn LIVE, The WoodSongs SongFarmers Gathering, and The Lexington Music Awards.

Room 17 Productions, a non-profit organization promotes music education through oral history, preservation and live performances present The Sara Holroyd Singers, a choral group comprised of former University of Kentucky Choristers who were led by University of Kentucky Professor Emeritus Dr. Sara Holroyd during the years 1961-1987.  During the years 1979-1986, The UK Choristers performed “A Shaker Worship Service” annually in the Meeting House for worldwide audiences during the month of September.

Today is #MuseumSelfieDay so we wanted to share a special #selfie from our recent virtual program "Objects & Stories: A Shaker Bonnet." We had fun hosting this Zoom, and our next virtual program is Sat. where we'll take a closer look at a Shaker desk: l8r.it/yVUy pic.twitter.com/S89CSqXRVX

Don't miss our virtual program "Objects & Stories: A Shaker Desk" this Saturday from 1-2:00 p.m. via Zoom. Every object has a story to tell, and by uncovering these stories, we can piece together the daily lives of individuals here at Pleasant Hill. l8r.it/EFAI pic.twitter.com/DeF8D6iwgx

Volunteerism is something we hold dear at #ShakerVillageKY. Head to our Facebook page to see how our team volunteers and how you can get involved. We think it's a great way to honor Dr. King on #MLK Day. l8r.it/emqx pic.twitter.com/WKBfNT1dEH
