Black Gum or Black Tupelo
The Black Gum, or Black Tupelo, is a medium-sized deciduous tree reaching up to 80 feet, though usually much shorter in mountainous regions. It adapts well to extreme climates, tolerates wet conditions, and is drought-resistant.
Black Gums are an excellent shade tree with stunning fall red colors and fruit that provides food for wildfowl, songbirds, small mammals, and hooved browsers.
