Celebrate Mother's Day by joining us for a special lunch or dinner at The Trustees' Table. Guests will make selections from the below menu options. Children ages 3-12 may choose a smaller portion of any of the below entrées, or order from our Kid's Menu with the choice of a peanut butter and honey sandwich or grilled cheese served with fresh cut fruit and ice cream.

Volunteer Days

Roll up your sleeves and lend a hand to help maintain the beauty of Shaker Village! Shaker Village staff will lead small teams of volunteers on a variety of outdoor beautification projects, including painting, staining and cleaning.

Work projects will total approximately six hours of the day. For guests ages 15 and up. Space is limited.

Registered attendees who book an overnight stay at The Inn receive a 30% discount, applied at checkout. (Overnight stay must be for the date immediately preceding or succeeding the program. Discount applies to one night. Cannot be combined with other offers. Overnight stay must be booked through Shaker Village and not through a 3rd party website.)

Weather played an immense role in the lives of the Pleasant Hill Shakers. As farmers, the arrival of a late frost or an inopportune hailstorm could be the difference between a successful harvest and a lean year. Tornados, severe thunderstorms, and even earthquakes were all challenges endured by the Shakers. One year, spring flooding on the Kentucky River was so severe that the Shakers wrote that their buildings at Shaker Landing had turned into islands that they ”sailed around with the skiff.”

Join us for this special April program at Shaker Village’s riverfront property at Shaker Landing where we’ll explore some of the natural disasters and unpleasant weather that impacted the Pleasant Hill Shakers.

This program is a guided evening conversation, hosted around a warming fire at Shaker Landing. Lawn blankets will be provided for attendees. Participants should be comfortable walking brief distances over uneven ground. Participants unable to sit on the ground may wish to bring a lawn chair or other portable seating. unPleasant Weather will proceed rain or shine, although the program may be modified in case of inclement weather.

unPleasant Weather is intended for ages 12+. Tickets required for all attendees. Dogs are not permitted.

Join potter Trish Caudill as she demonstrates her artistic process on a pottery wheel. This demonstration will take place outdoors, weather permitting, and guests will be able to interact with the artist and discuss her process.

Artist's Statement

I have been working in clay for almost 15 years and came to find my love for clay by taking a ceramics class to fulfill a diversity course for my business degrees.

The first time I put my hands in clay I experienced a connection that I have never felt before. At that moment I knew that this is what I was supposed to do in my working life.

Demonstrations take place at the Welcome Center, and participation is included with Admission to Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill.

Pack up the Family and leave your worries behind! Let Shaker Village host a weekend of fun for you and your family. Enjoy a Nature Hike on Friday, exploring our 3,000-acre Nature Preserve. Saturday is a fun-filled day including admission to Kid’s Science Saturday, and a family cookout in our Amphitheater.
