Calling all basket weavers to join us for a special day at Pleasant Hill! Bring your current project and join us for a day of work and fellowship in Shaker Village's Centre Family Dwelling.

Weavers are welcome to bring current projects, along with any finished samples of their work that they'd like to share. Shaker Village will provide work tables and a limited water supply.

Centre Family Dwelling will be open to the public throughout the day, and weavers will be encouraged to share their projects and chat with visiting guests. Shaker Village staff will also be present to introduce the Village's exciting new program showcasing heritage crafts: the Bluegrass Heritage Craft Guild. For the Shakers, temptation and sin lurked just around the corner! A plethora of rules governed all aspects of life in the community - from when brethren and sisters could meet socially to what foods were acceptable on the dinner table. We'll take a special stroll through some of our historic buildings as we share stories about the naughtier side of life at Pleasant Hill. Program fee includes one alcoholic beverage (up to $15 value) at Music on the Lawn (6:30-9:30pm).

This program will traverse approximately 0.5 mile of graveled, level terrain and will climb and descend several flights of stairs. Participants should be comfortable walking and navigating stairs in low light/semi-dark conditions. The program will proceed rain or shine, although the route may be modified in case of inclement weather.

This program deals with mature themes including addiction, intoxication, and sexuality. Dogs are not permitted.

Registered attendees who book an overnight stay at The Inn receive a 30% discount, applied at checkout. (Overnight stay must be for the date immediately preceding or succeeding the program. Discount applies to one night. Cannot be combined with other offers. Overnight stay must be booked through Shaker Village and not through a 3rd party website.)

All tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Blacksferry Handmade Baskets will be visiting the Village for a special demonstration and sale. Join Kentucky Artisan Kay Kass as she demonstrates how to hand weave a variety of basket styles. Baskets from her recent collection will be available for purchase at the Welcome Center.

Demonstrations take place at the Welcome Center, and participation is included with Admission to Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill.
