2026 Supermoon Hike
Tuesday, November 24, 2026 | 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
The moon's elliptical orbit means that it's not always the exact same distance from Earth. Every 27 days, it reaches perigee - the point when it is closest to Earth (only about 226,000 miles away from us!) Occasionally, perigee and full moon overlap to give us a "supermoon," when the moon seems a bit larger and brighter than normal.
Join us for a special "supermoon" hike as 2026 draws to a close. We'll enjoy the peaceful tranquility of a late fall walk through Shaker Village's Preserve by moonlight, keeping our eyes and ears open for any nighttime creatures that might be out and about.
