2025 Behind the Scenes
Three workshops in 2025
Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill preserves more than 5000 artifacts associated with the Pleasant Hill Shakers. Go behind the scenes with Shaker Village’s curator to explore highlights from the collection.
Shaker Sisterhood
Saturday, March 8 | 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Celebrate International Women’s Day by exploring the legacy of some of Pleasant Hill’s sisters. We’ll use objects from the Pleasant Hill collection along with journals and other archival materials to learn more about the lives of the many women who once called Pleasant Hill home. From their vibrantly colored silk neckerchiefs to their much-mended dresses, these sisters have left behind a rich material culture legacy for us to uncover.

March 29th marks the 102nd anniversary of the death of Sister Mary Settles – the last Shaker of Pleasant Hill. Join us in celebrating the life and legacy of Sister Mary. We’ll also be sharing stories and artifacts associated with some of the other twentieth-century Shakers of Pleasant Hill.
