The night sky and the cosmos have been a source of inspiration and amazement throughout human history. Join us for an evening at Pleasant Hill and explore the starry sky! On this gentle hike through the Preserve, take in the wonders of the prairie and forest at night while learning about some of the mysteries and curiosities of the universe. Along the way, we will identify and observe constellations that are visible in our hemisphere during the summer months.

Annual Passholder: $10

All minors must be accompanied by an adult. Guests should meet at the Welcome Center at 7:30 pm. All guests should bring flashlights that they can use to assist them return to their vehicles at the conclusion of the evening.

Are you ready for a twilight adventure through the Palisades? Paddle the Kentucky and Dix Rivers as sunset falls over the cliffs. This 2-hour guided trip is led by Canoe Kentucky and leaves from nearby Shaker Landing.

Suitable for ages 12 and older. Program fee includes one complimentary admission to Shaker Village and one voucher redeemable day-of for 20% off dining at The Trustees’ Table (excluding alcoholic beverages).

Dining reservations are recommended to assure availability, 859.734.5411.

Shaker Village Glow Paddles are weather-dependent, and may be cancelled if river levels are unsafe.  In these cases the decision to cancel will be made 24 hours prior to the event and a full refund will be issued to each registered participant.

The night sky and the cosmos have been a source of inspiration and amazement throughout human history. Join us for an evening at Pleasant Hill and explore the starry sky! On this gentle hike through the Preserve, take in the wonders of the prairie and forest at night while discovering some of the mysteries and curiosities of the universe. Along the way, we will observe constellations and learn about comets, meteors, and shooting stars. After the hike, spread out a quilt and take in the Perseids meteor shower!
