Walk through millions of years of geologic time as you descend along the river road into the Kentucky River Palisades. Our guides will show how the geology of the region has shaped what we see above ground today.

On this easy guided hike in the Preserve, discover the ruins of several of these important building sites and learn how the physical landscape at Pleasant Hill provided the Shakers with perfect opportunities to develop these crucial pieces of infrastructure.

Let Shaker Village help you learn everything needed to get started with beekeeping!

This course will teach participants about the honeybee life-cycle, choosing hive equipment and assembly, hive site selection, basic pest management, the costs of beekeeping, how to establish your first hives and what to expect in your first year as a beekeeper. Practical instruction and a variety of guides and resources will be shared. Participants will also take home a beginner beekeeping book.

On this gentle hike through the Preserve, take in the wonders of the prairie and forest at night while learning about some of the mysteries and curiosities of the universe. Along the way, we will identify and observe constellations that are visible in our hemisphere during the winter months.

During the equinox, both halves of the Earth are receiving the sun's rays equally. In the Northern Hemisphere, the fall equinox officially brings summer to an end and kicks off autumn.

On this gentle hike through the Preserve, take in the wonders of the prairie and forest at night while learning about some of the mysteries and curiosities of the universe.
