Bigleaf Magnolia
The Bigleaf Magnolia is a small-sized, deciduous understory tree with large 20-30 inch-long leaves.
Most often found on rich, wooded mountain slopes in Eastern Kentucky, this magnolia has large, creamy white flowers. Kentucky is home to the national champion tree in Tight Hollow, Kentucky.
The Bigleaf Magnolia looks similar to the Umbrella Magnolia, but can be identified by its wavy edges, or b-shape, at the base of its leaves versus the v-shape leaf base of Umbrella Magnolia.
