Chinquapin Oak
Chinquapin Oaks grow on limestone outcrops in the eastern U.S., from New England to northeastern Mexico. Chinquapin oaks are abundant in the Bluegrass region, and have very small acorns.
These are the most common white oaks on Shaker Village's property. The oldest known Chinquapin in Kentucky can be found in Floracliff Nature Sanctuary, Fayette County; the oldest ring of that tree dates to 1611.
