The Cucumber Tree is a fast-growing and hardy deciduous tree in the magnolia family that grows in the woods of the eastern U.S.

This tree grows on forested mountain slopes in Eastern and Southern Kentucky. Its twigs and leaves have a spicy-sweet smell when broken. It is named for the “cucumber-like” appearance of its fruit, when young and green.
