Eastern Hemlock
One of Kentucky’s eight native conifers, the Eastern Hemlock grows in moist, cool slopes, ranging from the northeast U.S. through the southern Appalachians.
The Eastern Hemlock is a slow-growing and long-lived tree, and can live 800 years or more.
This tree is susceptible to hemlock wooly adelgid, an invasive aphid-like insect originating from East Asia.
