What’s the critter hiding under that rock?

Bring the kids and explore Shaker Village’s streams and ponds to identify rarely-seen native species. Learn how to safely study and handle these living creatures and how we can work together to make our waterways healthy habitats.

This program is for guests ages five and up. All minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Participants should be at the Welcome Center by 9:45 am. We will caravan to the parking lot by the Center Trailhead.

The program will involve getting into the creek. Guests should wear water shoes and other suitable clothing that can get wet.

Enjoy baseball as it was played in the 1860s with this exciting match-up between the 1869 Cincinnati Red Stockings and the Bluegrass Barons!

Both teams will wear period-reproduction uniforms and use period-reproduction equipment while following baseball rules from the late-19th century. Discover the origins of America’s pastime and how much the game has changed in the last 150 years!

Attendance to the Vintage Baseball Game is included in your general admission to the Village, and can be purchased day-of in the Welcome Center.

Bring your own lawn chair, and we'll provide the shade tree!

Hot Dogs! Get your Hot Dogs heeeere!

The Shaker Village concession stand will be open near the game, with hot dogs, brats, cracker jacks and assorted snacks and beverages available. We'll also have the beer tent open nearby!

Why is it called a Flower Moon?

Well, it’s pretty simple – May is the time for blooming flowers across North America!

The night sky and the cosmos have been a source of inspiration and amazement throughout human history. Join us for an evening at Pleasant Hill and explore the starry sky! On this gentle hike through the Preserve, take in the wonders of the prairie and forest at night while discovering some of the mysteries and curiosities of the universe. Along the way, we will observe constellations and learn fun facts about the moon and its importance in our lives!

Annual Passholder: $10
Non-Annual Passholder: $15

Participants should meet at the Welcome Center by 8:30 pm. All participants should bring flashlights to assist in returning to vehicles or rooms at the conclusion of the evening.

Do you know how to read an artifact? What can objects tell us about the past and the people who used them?  Every object has a story to tell, and by uncovering these stories, we can piece together the daily lives of individuals here at Pleasant Hill.  Join us to examine the importance of artifacts, and the ways in which we can use them to understand more about life in this communal society.

This workshop will be held virtually, using the Zoom platform. This is the best way to ensure we are all staying safe and still having some fun. All participants will receive a link for the Zoom meeting via email.

Equine Trail Sports (ETS) gives riders a reason to ride in partnership with their equine, as they “Ride for fun, Ride to learn."

Come try our equine obstacles and customize your ride. You select the challenge level for each obstacle which best fits the goals for you and your equine on a relaxing trail ride with friends, and friends they’ve yet to meet!

ETS offers a fun, safe format for the everyday rider and competitor age 7 and older. Enjoy a variety of obstacles in a fun and family-friendly environment.

Events are open to all breeds of horses, donkeys and mules. All disciplines welcome! Not ready to compete? Register to ride along as a Recreational Rider.

The Equine Trail Sports Challenge is hosted at the West Lot Stables of Shaker Village, and conducted by Equine Trail Sports.

A $10 trail fee to Shaker Village will be payable day-of, and is not included in the event registration fee.
