Celebrate the Harvest Moon at Pleasant Hill with a 1.25-mile hike through the Preserve, taking in the wonders of the woodland and prairie in the early evening. Along the way, we will be watching for crepuscular creatures and discussing harvest season folklore.

Cost:
Annual Passholder: $15
General Admission: $25

Participants should meet at the Welcome Center 15 minutes prior to the start of the event. All participants should bring flashlights to assist in returning to vehicles or rooms at the conclusion of the evening.

Join us to learn the traditional art of dipped candle making. During this workshop, we will make several types of dipped candles using a blend of historic and modern methods. We will learn the history of candles throughout the ages and explore connections to the Pleasant Hill Shakers.

All necessary materials are provided. No experience necessary and all levels are encouraged.

Chair Taping Footstool

The Shakers used a distinctive material for crafting seats — colorful, woven strips known as “tape” or “listing.” In this workshop, you’ll get to learn the art of chair taping for yourself!

We’ll use a mix of traditional and modern materials, and you’ll walk away with a woven footstool in a color combination that’s uniquely yours. No experience necessary and all materials provided.

If you want to brush up on your tree identification skills then this is the tour for you! Join us for a hands-on guided program and learn the basics of identifying some of Kentucky’s native trees by their leaves while strolling the grounds of Shaker Village.

The Kentucky landscape is crisscrossed by a vast network of waterways, ranging from trickling mountain streams to large meandering rivers. At Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill, we invite you to come and explore our creeks and ponds, offering waterside walking while exploring diverse aquatic ecosystems and native species. Learn how we can work together to make our waterside environments healthy habitats. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy under a shady creekside tree at the conclusion of our walk!
