2025 Moth Hike: Exploring Nighttime Nature
Saturday, July 19, 2025 | 8:30 p.m-10:00 p.m.

Join us for a special nighttime hike celebrating the start of National Moth Week! Unlike their more popular butterfly “cousins,” most species of moths are nocturnal, and with 160,000+ different species, there’s a lot for us to discover and discuss. The primary focus of our evening program will be a citizen-science project to document and observe local moth species using a special system of nets and lighting.
Can’t get enough of moths and butterflies? July 19th is “Lepidoptera Day” at Shaker Village! Consider joining us for our daytime Butterfly Walk in addition to this nighttime hike.
Annual Passholder: $15
General Admission: $25
This hike will take place outdoors, rain or shine. Participants will traverse gravel, grass, and dirt pathways on a 1.0-2.0 mile loop along Shaker Village's trails. Participants should be comfortable walking in low light/semi-dark conditions.
The Moth Hike is intended for ages 12+. All minors must be accompanied by a ticketed adult. Tickets required for guests aged 5+.
All tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.
