Maple Day

Date: February 15, 2025
Time: 10:30 am  to  2:00 pm

2025 Maple Day

Saturday, February 15, 2025 | 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
Tree taping

Maple Day is an educational event held in conjunction with the University of Kentucky's Department of Forestry and Natural Resources and celebrated across the Commonwealth highlighting the start of the maple syrup season.

Join us at Shaker Village as we celebrate all things syrup! With the purchase of an onsite admission ticket at the Welcome Center you'll learn how we tap our trees, collect sap and boil it down on our wood-fired evaporator to make the sweet seasonal syrup we all love.

Learn more about how that wonderful syrup gets to your table on our Sap to Syrup tours at 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. This year we will be highlighting our black walnut trees!

Don't forget to reserve a spot at The Trustees' Table to get a taste of our seasonal syrup inspired menu! Lunch specials include salad with baby spinach, maple black walnut vinaigrette, granny smith apples, smoked cheddar cheese and toasted black walnuts and a black walnut cake with maple cream frosting for dessert.

Harvest moon hike

Monday, October 6 | 7:30-9:00 p.m.

What better time to enjoy a nighttime hike than in the light of the full moon? Traditionally, the full moon that falls closest to the autumnal equinox has always been known as the "Harvest Moon" - a time for farmers to finish gathering their summer crops and begin preparing for winter. Rising just after sunset, and appearing particularly large and bright, this year's Harvest Moon, which is also a "supermoon," will be the perfect illumination for an evening stroll on the Preserve. Along the way, we'll share some harvest folklore and discuss the science behind supermoons.
