About The Walnut Street Ramblers

The Walnut Street Ramblers have performed at many locations in Kentucky including Danville’s Great American Brass Band Festival; Ashland’s Paramount Theatre; Harrodsburg’s Fort Harrod Jazz Festival; Lexington’s Moondance Theatre, Grand Reserve, and Speakeasy; Bardstown’s Summer Concert Series; and Pleasant Hill’s Shaker Village.

The Ramblers’ repertoire spans ragtime-era music including Scott Joplin; New Orleans traditional jazz by Jelly-Roll Morton and Louis Armstrong; and hot 1920s music by composers such as Fats Waller, Hoagy Carmichael and Cole Porter.

Members of the Ramblers have appeared with such noted artists as Wynonna Judd, Natalie Cole, Lou Rawls, the Manhattan Transfer, and Aretha Franklin. The Walnut Street Ramblers promise you a hot time--listen, celebrate, and enjoy as they recreate the great times in America’s music.

Needlework & Rug Making Demonstration

Date: November 12, 2022
Time: 10:00 am  to  3:00 pm

Needlework & Rug Making Demonstration - Lydia Allen

Saturday, November 12 | 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Needlework, Lydia Allen

Join artist Lydia Allen as she demonstrates needlework and penny rug making. This demonstration will take place outdoors, weather permitting, and guests will be able to interact with the artist and discuss her process.

Artist's Bio
The inspiration for Lydia’s wool art has been her appreciation for the intricate handwork designs from 18th-and 19th-century textiles.  Her wool creations incorporate themes and patterns that symbolize peace.

Lydia uses wool fabric, creating her own unique designs and patterns.  All are hand cut and stitched.  An idea comes to mind, sometimes there is a sketch, then the wool and thread come together to tell a story or share a memory.

* Demonstrations take place at the Welcome Center, and participation is included with Admission to Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill
